Women's Golf in second entering final day of Betsy Rawls Invitational - University of Texas Athletics

Day 1 Outcomes | Day 2 Pairings

A robust second spherical on Saturday, highlighted by senior Kaitlyn Papp’s 67, rocketed the Texas girls’s golf group into second place – 4 strokes again of the lead – heading into the ultimate day of the Betsy Rawls Invitational at UT Golf Membership.

After a five-over-par 293 within the opening spherical that put Texas in a tie for fourth place, the Longhorns fired a season-best 279 in a second spherical that featured all 4 scorers ending beneath par.

The ultimate spherical of the Betsy Rawls Invitational is ready for Sunday at UT Golf Membership. Play begins at 8:45 a.m. CT with a shotgun begin.

By 36 holes, Baylor leads the sphere with an eight-under-par 568 [289-279]. Texas has totaled a four-under-par 572 [293-279]. Iowa State is in third with a three-over-par 579 [291-288].

Texas’ second-round 279 tied for the fifth-best 18-hole group complete in Betsy Rawls Invitational historical past.

“I appreciated that bounce-back for positive,” Texas head coach Ryan Murphy stated. “That was an excellent second spherical that we performed, clearly led by Kaitlyn’s 67. Each time you could have 4 scorers below par in a spherical, you have performed fairly nicely. I used to be pleased with them for that and pleased with the bounce-back. They’ve put us in place with one spherical to play. We’re 4 again so we have got a shot tomorrow.”

As a group, the Longhorns totaled a field-best 36 birdies and added 109 pars. Texas’ scoring common on par-five holes [4.85, -6] was the most effective of any group within the area on Saturday.
