Francis Sargeant Joins Cal Males’s Tennis Teaching Workers – College of California Golden Bears Athletics


England native Francis Sargeant coached the final couple years at Stanford.

BERKELEY – Francis Sargeant has joined the California males’s tennis program as an assistant coach, Peter Wright, Cal’s Director of Males’s Tennis, introduced Friday.
 
A former participant at BYU, Sargeant spent the final a number of seasons teaching at Stanford.
 
“We’re excited to welcome Francis to the Cal household as he brings a wealth of worldwide expertise and information as a participant and a coach,” Wright mentioned. “His exceptional success as a junior and school participant coupled with spending the final six years teaching and coaching elite school gamers and ATP/WTA execs make him uniquely certified to assist our group thrive as we put together for the season forward.”
 
Sargeant was an assistant coach for the Stanford males’s group in 2020-21, when he helped lead the Cardinal to the second spherical of the NCAA event, and he served as an assistant coach for the Stanford ladies in 2019-20. He was a volunteer assistant coach for the Cardinal males over the earlier three years. Sargeant started his teaching profession as a volunteer assistant for the Memphis males’s group in 2015-16, when the Tigers reached the NCAA event.
 
The England native performed at BYU from 2012-15, ending his collegiate profession with 91 singles wins. Sargeant earned All-WCC second-team honors twice and was named to the all-conference first group in doubles within the 2013 season. He graduated with a level in sociology in 2015 and with two ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. In 2010 and 2011, he was the top-ranked U18 participant in the UK.
 
“At first, I am actually excited to be working alongside coach Peter, working with such wonderful gamers and dealing inside a program as prestigious as Cal’s,” Sargeant mentioned. “To say that I’m grateful for this chance is a giant understatement.
 
“Lastly, I’d be remiss to not acknowledge those that have helped me develop alongside the best way. Paul (Goldstein) and Brandon (Coupe, the Stanford males’s head coach and affiliate head coach, respectively), Lele (Forood, Stanford’s ladies’s head coach) and Paul (Goebel, the Memphis males’s head coach) — I can not thanks all sufficient. I can’t wait to get on Cal’s campus and get working. Go Bears!”
