Bicycle owner Dylan Groenewegen was banned from racing for 9 months right now for inflicting a sprint-finish crash that left a rival in a coma and with extreme facial accidents.

The Worldwide Biking Union stated its disciplinary panel dominated Groenewegen can not compete once more till Could 7. He’ll miss the spring season of one-day traditional races plus week-long races together with Paris-Good, the place he has received levels in earlier seasons.

The UCI stated Groenewegen “acknowledged that he deviated from his line and dedicated a violation” of race guidelines.

“I hope this has been a clever lesson for each sprinter,” Groenewegen stated. “I observe the information of Fabio’s restoration very carefully. I can solely hope that someday he’ll return fully.”
